Why is it, that time created distance,
And why from persistence, this time,
Came great suffering, and pestilence.

Given tongue, and often structure,
In return: local, but of foreign work,
Until laughter, then giving up.

Why is it, that you have so much?
And share little with anyone else.
Why is it, that you hate so much?
And have love for only yourself...

Given love, and given supper,
And little of anything else.
Envy itself, has deadly effect,
And little of anything else.

Macho dancer, nacho boy,
Follower, borrowed language,
Patterned, upon another land.
They call you boy, not a man.

Hollow laughter from the distance,
Borrowed valor, from deep sadness.
Thirty seven candles later you visit,
Sorrow, passion, anger, business,
All over a taco salad?
I thought you had charisma?

They say your life, not your plan...
Also talent, not what you had.

Abscence, between smashing.
Not pathetic and sad,
Crippled by lattice fences,
Under another mask.

Actually? They call me often, I'm in demand.

Another sunset and other bands,
People are as carbon is to plants,
Commerce is to banks,
Son is to a dad.

Stares across the sheet of ice...
Ningen, it lives! My fear subsides,
Human eyes, inhuman smile,
alive... it's alive!

A light, like a flight, is a trial...
Neat circles and straight lines!
Figures, like a flight, need a pilot,
Skies above have no time or pride.
A night, like an iron spike, island,
Eye's iris, thick thighs or curtness,
Always keep a place and purpose.
Unlike the Ningen, which flies...

Just hopes to last another lifetime,
Like longing stares into a glass of rye,
Fish in the ocean or the turning tide.
What falls from the sky? What god divines?
What god provides? What father decided?
Despite what he tries, like a Ningen child,
Like looks across tables at what he despised.

Like a fucking guy who likes to get fucking high,
Although he decides, he decides, he decides...
His mind often trailed nonsense, then he cried,
Like a little baby, Ningen child that he hated inside.

Estoppel,
Mothers teach their daughters:
Fear god like a cannon,
It's about what comes after,
Thanks can turn like a cavern.

Characters in novels,
Monuments in their honor,
Buildings to hurl themselves off of,
In life, it appears less often,
Withering is more common.

Peer down the fandom:
Book like a standard,
Fans buy a good lie.
Banks burn like a tavern,
Like a blanket in shambles
By the fire that looks fine.

Estoppel: The dragon sighs,
Wishes a sweet prince, good night,
Gone is he with the fire.

A horse runs, devoid of time,
A whale dives, despite depth,
Vowel Rhyme,
Towel, dye,
Common find,
Calm in mind.
Triage, lies,
Between fires,
Flickering light.

Sometimes a horse dives,
Often times, In your eyes,
The horse survives,
In my mind, one more time.

Often at times, I find myself at war with my own mind,
Unable to accept that that I'm unable to accept that I am but a speck of dust,
Wandering aimlessly,
Crashing into everything that I'd eventually grow to love,
Then wandering off in search of someone who would eventually break my heart into a million tiny pieces until I'd convince myself to just give up,
But our species,
For better or for worse have an unwavering ability to persevere,
So I tuck myself beneath this dirt seeking only solace from that which left me questioning everything,
Until one day I push past the debris and rubble, a stock with a shadow,
And with each and every passing day,
I feel the life and love growing and shaping me into a stronger version of the person I abandoned in the grave I call these sheets just the day prior,
For no pain will silence me,
No discomfort will ever extinguish that which sets my heart on fire.

Warning: this is looooooong and if you’re a sensitive individual the first parts may bother you. But hopefully the last part will inspire you. Speak your truths friends. The ones who matter will love you all the harder. #worldmentalhealthday

Hidden Stories

They smiled, jokingly told her
she looked tired,
“Must’ve partied hard last night.”
Smile quietly returned,
“just didn’t sleep too well I guess.”
She didn’t tell them how hard it was to get out of bed this morning,
How sleep never came last night,
How it felt like the darkness would just swallow her whole,
How she felt hollow and empty
and there weren’t any tears left,
just an ache deep within
that wouldn’t subside.
And maybe if she just squeezed her eyes shut and stayed in that bed
in the blacked out void,
She wouldn’t have to face another day of faked smiles and “I’m ok” lies.
“Just tired today I guess.”

“It’s warm today man!”
“What’s with the long sleeves all the time?”
“Got some crazy tattoos under there?”
He smiled, laughed along with them,
Self-consciously ran his hands
over his wrists.
Over the bandages binding his secrets.
They didn’t know how close he got last night, how he almost let go,
How so much blood, HIS blood
swirled down the drain,
mixing with his tears.
He was sure no one would miss him, but he wondered if he would miss this world,
And the good days out in the sun,
Few and far between as they were.
What would they say if he were gone tomorrow?

“You should’ve come out with us last night. You would’ve had so much fun...”
She nodded and made those
“next time” promises,
though she knew they were lies.
She’d stay home again,
Wrapped in the icy grips of loneliness,
Which felt somehow better
than her burning cheeks
when the right words just wouldn’t come, or the wrong ones spilled out,
and she felt their eyes on her,
Panic rising, thoughts frozen
Wishing she’d just stayed home,
Away from the judgement,
And all the wrong moves she always made

“Haven’t seen you around in a while! Doing ok?”
His mouth smiled, head nodded,
lips formed words he’d said so often, automatic.
Because, really, he thought,
How could I describe
that moment last night,
body curled up with forehead cold
against the kitchen floor,
Ears covered to block out the voices,
Silent screams wracking his body as the panic overwhelmed him,
No breath to speak,
And who could he call anyway,
How would he explain these moments of pure fear that slipped in unnoticed
and become everything, took everything, until he was a shivering shell of himself.
Sometimes he wondered,
if they could see through him,
would they think him weak?
Would they walk away...?

These people are all make-believe,
but the experiences are not,
taken from articles and discussions
and sometimes even revelations from
real-life friends.
These are not my stories,
but they are someone’s truths,
Not their weakness,
Not their short-lived sadness
that they can just “get over” if you try hard enough to make them happy.
(My gosh do I need to remind myself of that part sometimes...)

But that doesn’t mean you stop trying.
Love them y’all.
Love them so damn much that you’ll sometimes break through the cracks in their self-inflicted armor.
Listen to them,
Give them the chance to be
open and honest,
And if what they say makes you flinch, imagine what it must feel like for them.
Do something kind that makes them smile and get ready to do it again tomorrow.
Smile and laugh with them. Cry with them.
Be genuine with your
thoughts and feelings.
Give them space, but check on them.
Pull them out of the dark for just a moment, say,
“I’m here for you when you need me.
And I always will be.”

Mental health issues are often invisible,
but still feel debilitating to the one
inside that head.
Stay educated.
Be understanding.
Love the hell out of each other.
❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎💗

Poetry Satirized

What is this thing they call poetry?
It’s mostly “pretty words” you see

Ok, maybe there’s a bit more to it...
I’ll see if I can walk ya through it.

We rap similes and metaphors,
Figurative language whores

Plays on words
And turns of phrase
Emotional squalor
And issues for days

Lovers lost
And sadness deep
Words that when trapped
Keep us from sleep

“Racing to the finish”
Or dragging our feet
And not to compete
or attempt to defeat
But simply
To complicatedly complete

Alleviate or desecrate
All depends upon the date
Or what kind of day we had
Pissed off, celebratory, sad
Or in poetic terminology,
Raging, blessed, melancholy

We personify and mystify
“Let them see it through our eyes”

We rhyme and reason
Or sometimes we don’t
It’s not that we can’t
It’s more likely we won’t

Abstract or concrete
Or both all at once
Painting deeeeeep pictures...

But sometimes only of confusion
Poetic delusions 😉
Words made in illusions
Or maybe allusions?
No wonder we can’t always reach a conclusion...

So “pretty words”
though they may often be,
There is a bit more to this thing...

Poetry.

Wishing to find the guardrails of life,
Leaning against as he sleeps too tightly,
Dreams too deeply, too often: Nightly.

Gut or balls, what does it take to fight?
Is it twice as woke to never, and lie,
Guarded and cross, who takes your rights?
How about the lefts? Right.

Open prose with my dignity,
I am simple, Iambs, imagery,
Trying to oven toast,
With my sympathy lost.

I hope for you another loss,
Scotch socials, often postures,
Costumes oft.
Walls filled with posters,
To wish you, where I was,
As if my feelings forgotten.

Open hose of complacency,
Teach me your giving ways,
Leach lead onto my face,
My children's faces,
My foodstuff casings.
Tell me of today:
"I Take not, responsibility.
Taste, not digestibility,
My style succinct,
My rubber hole,
Leaves rubber taste."

Imagine your achievements dreamed,
To swim upstream, one's valor full,
Salmon like calendar, won tomorrow.
River colander rusted and massive,
Is this my love, and forever after,
To be strained by dirty captives?
I magic your feelings careening,
To sink a damn, one's cup too full.
Salt mounds like ashen piles,
Too often borrowed by a saline cult.
Maybe my faults found by asking,
To speak upfront, one never knows,
Maybe fault-lines, foundations cracking.
To be a tan, army man, evil being,
May be taught lies fundamentally ethic,
Baby breaking, tied to shouting rhetoric.

She writes fallacies of nobody,
Highlights for her hair color,
Callously she laughs with glee,
Ire beauty and young bravery.
Screaming in doorways sobriety,
I like to think she knows me not.
Picking flowers from her yard,
Policy alike her start, mother,
Discovering what to be, rather,
Honesty like her heart, lover,
It beats nobody clever. Until.

Forgive my desires: two stepping.
Your teacup leaking, I laugh still.
Sieve steeping, a living actress,
And to live needing? is this banter?
Definition in short order, leaving.
For give my empires to Stephen,
An idea more Corey than Cancer.
A ballet dancer, but a thick boy,
Holes among left awood with joy,
Man ideal for lawyers and cantors,
For one who teaches is forgotten,
Cotton tarnished in an oily oil.
Royalty royal and parched to often,
His voice softens, off his head,
For I too seek enjoyment, spread.

The thing that hurts the most.
You calmed my storms.
You helped make sense of the chaos.
You plucked me from brokenness.
Helped me find strength.

I don't know what it was.
But just looking in your eyes.
Filled my soul with peace.
I miss it.
I miss the quiet.
The calm.
I miss us.

I'm starting to feel broken again.
Empty inside.
Trying my best.
Not to let anyone see.

But there are days.
Where control escapes me.
Do you think of me?
As often as I think of you?
Do you remember my name?
What it once meant to you?

I look back on that day. March 10th.
Where I lost you.
Where every image I had of you.
Just shattered.
You were no longer a refuge.
You became a source of pain.
You still are to this day.

I blame myself for it.
For my losing you.
It's been three months.
Realizing it's true.
I don't cry as much. Though my heart still does ache.
Try as I might; I can't bring myself to hate;
You. The situation. Us.

I want to throw it under the proverbial bus.
I can't. Because the sky still reminds me of you. It was our destiny. Our sky. The world was going to be ours.
Accept it. It's over now. These dreams just won't come true. I need to accept that what we are. Is through.

Dreams of the past float away,
Tired dying in contemplation,
Away from the fertile mates.
Tomorrow's savior never stays,
Often lying of false hopes,
Those who bestay his ropes.
Betrayed again.
No whole boat exists,
The sea depleted,
Forlorn and pissed,
True Scotsman brave it.

She writes poems of heart,
Often written of donkey,
Her poor forms of art,
Read to visiting monkeys,
Lower than a garden to him.
Porous as a soul set afire,
Or as the garden's soil,
Mixed in with family dirt,
Who grow weed and stay poor.

The Sophist

Deep in the forest
Between pleasure and pain
Screams are so violent
Yet silence remains
How often do you think of me?
Or remember my name?
Am I just a memory?
Or do you ever think of me?

Stridently hopeless
Lotso' talk about games
Stammers to silence
There it goes again again
How often do you think of me?
Or remember my name?
Am I just a memory?
Or do you even think of me all?

Tomorrow, if you picture it;
Another chance to witness someone else's bliss
And envy it
And live your life in envying
Green both in your mind and in your skin
Clad in purple cloth worn to protect your sins
And mourn the loss of love you stitched into it

Around me I see
Ghosts of a memory
Smoke in the air I breathe
A complete lack of energy
Dogmatic discomfort
Dogmatic disbelief
Friends crushing my dreams
Becoming the enemy

I'm Building a fortress
To honor my name
To scream at the silence
To wander in pain
To wonder in fantasy
Living each day the same
Do you ever think of me?
Or am I just a memory?

Deep in the forest
Between pleasure and pain
Screams are so violent
Yet silence remains
How often do you think of me?
Or remember my name?
Am I just a memory?
Or did you ever think of me at all?

A Ballad of the Soft Sophist;
When trying to scream,
They said 'oh, stop this!
Stop the sophist speaking free.
Sophist softly speak to me.
And make me pay,
And teach me duly,
And teach me how to write so bluesy!'

Sophist took their time instead,
Folding shapes from paper heads.
Writers spending days in bed;
Dazed and gazing at their pens.
At night they sleep and then they start again.

A ballad often spoke softest;
When the sophists screamed,
They said 'oh, stop this;
Education should be free.
Sophist slowly speak to me.
In loving way,
In budding grace,
In virtue is the value based.
